Design for a new 'Dave Walker'

Photo: My cartoon is due to reappear in the Church Times again next week. Yesterday I spent a few hours sitting in the CT / Hymns Ancient and Modern production department, mainly doing some drawing, but also discussing how the cartoon will appear in the paper. These are mock-ups of possible font positioning, colouring and size for the title. I’m thinking blue Gill Sans Light aligned right, but no final decision made. The plan is to drop the ‘Guide to the church’ label, thereby giving me a bit more scope to draw other things.

  1. I prefer blue Gill Sans Regular. But I dont read church times and have no idea of print quality etc.

  2. If it is “sans light” will we be able to see it?

…a tantalising preview… I shall be waiting by the letter box next Friday..

  3. Like Liz, I prefer the ‘Regular’ – a little more prominent showing who created the images! Aligned right seems better (but what do I know!)

  4. Splendid news – looking forward to seeing it each week. Gill Sans Regular looks classy. Set right may mean less interference with the cartoon title, depending on how long that is, so would get my vote.
    Not that I have a vote. Just a tuppence ha’penny opinion 🙂
