While I’m here, a notice for regulars. Congratulations Andrew Betts and Scott, who are the winners of my small calendar competition. If you didn’t win one I have a feeling (unconfirmed) that the calendars will be in the Church House Bookshop sale, starting on Monday. But you’ll have to be quick. As I say, I don’t know this for certain.

I once tried to ask the elderly owner at a small rural Inn in Tuscany for the wifi code with sign language since he didn’t speak a word of English. Failed dismally (never much good at charades). Don’t actually think he knew it even if I could speak Italian…
