I was pleased to discover a new blog by my old friend Lev the other day. Lev was, I think, the first person I met in real life who was ‘from the internet’ so to speak, way back in 1999. He was also, as far as I can recall, the first person I knew to have what we might now call ‘a blog’, though in those days I don’t think they were called that. He’s also done quite a few bits of writing which you’ll find here and there on the net, such as this one on ‘speed dating‘ and another on Christian music for Surefish.
In his latest blog post Lev reflects on his faith:
It’s been 12 years since I became a Christian, 8 since I left charismatic-evangelicalism, 6 since I moved to Manchester and away from Holy Joes (post-evangelicalism), and 2 since I started going to Sanctus1 (missional-emerging).
Oddly enough, with each move I am less able to articulate my faith than before. It was easy to define evangelicalism, and therefore easy to define what it isn’t – post-evangelicalism. But a negative definition is hardly helpful for explaining yourself to the unchurched. What struck me the most was how hard it is for me to define my current church arrangements.
