On the way back we stopped in Cookham, where I worked as youthworker until starting this cartooning lark. It was great to see everyone. Timmy Mallett was there and took a few pictures which he has sent to me (with the greeting “Hairy Dave! You look great!”).
The first is Maddie_C and I participating in the service having just carried up the Elements to the altar. As you can see I am treating this solemn liturgical event with the seriousness it deserves.
In the second I am standing with a copy of ‘the Door’ containing my cartoon. I look not unlike an idiot.
Thanks to Timmy for the photos. The Timmy Mallett website is here in all it’s utter brilliance. As well as assorted Mallett merchandise the site contains a lot of Timmy’s paintings which are well worth a look. You may recognise one or two of the Cookham residents. No, not me I’m afraid.
So Timmy Mallet goes to your old church? Or have I missed the joke? Glad you had a good hol.
Yes, he does go there.
how cool is that!
You should get him to come to greenbelt. When I was younger, me and my sister used to get up early and wear the days atire for wacaday, be it one left wellington, or whatever.
Timmy Mallet showed up at the confirmation of our young people at a church near there a few years ago. Unfortunately it was LOST on them as they were too young to know who he was!
However I must object that Mr Mallet missed off MY ARTICLE from the picture!!! He could have lost some of those rather resplendent church hall curtains and fitted at least a bit in!
